Lady Tide defeats Gulfport 5-1

Picayune's Lady Tide improved to 2-1 on the year defeating

Gulfport High 5-1. Kasey Mitchell was the winning pitcher

striking out four while allowing only 4 hits.

Mitchell and Allison "Dink" Bynum combined for 7 of Picayune's

10 hits. Courtney Dickens, Sarah Trexler and Mallorie Mixon each

had one hit.


The Tide left two runners on in the first and three in the second

before they were finally able to plate their first run.  Kellye Bolar 

reached 1st after being hit by a pitch and advanced to second as

Cassie Rabion drew a walk.   Bynum placed a perfect bunt down

the third base line to reach safely while advancing Kellye and 

Brandi Rabion who was pinch running for her older sister. 

Tara Dunn was walked to score Bolar for the first run.  After

two outs, Mitchell drew a base on balls to plate Rabion for run 

number two.  Bynum scored the third run of the inning on a base

hit by Dickens. 

The Tide scored two more times in the fourth when Bynum and

Dunn cross the plate on back to back hits by Trexler and Mixon.

The Tide held Gulfport scoreless until the 7th inning when they

managed one run on two hits.

The Lady Tide will be in action again Friday night as they travel to

Wiggins to take on Stone County .
