Head Coach Cayne Stockstill

Cayne Stockstill became the Head Coach of the Maroon Tide prior to the 2005 season, succeeding longtime Picayune coach Kent Kirkland who moved into a full time Principal role at Picayune Memorial High School. Stockstill had been an assistant under Kirkland for five seasons.

Coach Stockstill, a 1995 graduate of PMHS, was a 4-year letterman on the Maroon Tide baseball team under Head Coach Kent Kirkland.  During his senior season, he led the Gulf Coast in hitting and was the first player selected to participate in the MS Crossroads Diamond Club All-Star Game in Jackson, MS.

After graduating from PMHS, he attended William Carey College (WCC) in Hattiesburg, MS, where he played on the Crusader baseball team for four years.  While at WCC, the Crusaders won two Gulf South Region Championships and played in three NAIA regional tournaments.  Upon graduation from WCC, Stockstill returned to Picayune and began his coaching career in the spring of 2000 on Coach Kirland's staff.  During his five (5) tenure as an assistant, he helped lead the Maroon Tide to four playoff appearances, where the teams earned three South State titles and one State Championship title.

As head coach, his teams made the playoffs seven (7) times (2008,2009,2010,2011,2013,2014,2015)

and played for the South State championship in 2009 and 2013.

As a coach, he believes in and stresses the importance of hard work, teamwork, and discipline to make each player the best he can possibly be.  Cayne and his wife Ashley have a son, Jacob, and a daughter, Chloe.
