Girls take 3rd ; Boys 6th at the 5A State Meet
Submitted Coach Jerry Todd
Pearl--Picayune Girls finish 3rd at the State Meet and
the boys took 6th place. The girls scored 55 points while the boys scored
43.
Girls Coach Jerry Todd said," Almost every girl did better than
what they were seeded at this meet. That's all you can ask or expect
of them. Just do your best or improve your seeded place and almost everyone
did this today. Even with Jaz (Jasmine Ducre) not running her best race
(the 400), we had a very good day when it counted the most. We have
finished 4th four or five times at the State Meet, so we are happy to
finish 3rd, our highest finish ever. My five senior girls, Jaz, T (Taneequa
Myers) , Sahara, Clarissa, and MeMe have been with me since the 8th
grade and I have to say that they are the best group of athletes to
ever come
through Picayune in track, basketball, and softball; these girls have
always performed at a high level. I will truly miss them."
