Picayune All State Track Selections

Hannah Nunez is a two-time selection while Jasmine Ducre has been chosen for the first time.  

Nunez won the 5A High Jump after being runner-up for 3 years and anchored the 4x1 relay
that recorded the fastest time at the state meet out of all six classifications. She also set the 100 meter
hurdle school record at 15.09. Our time in the 4x1 relay of 48.42 was just short of the state
 record of 48.10. Nunez finished ranked #1in the state in the high jump.
 
Ducree won the triple jump and the 400 for the 2nd consecitive year. She finished ranked #1
in the state in the 400 meter dash. She also ran on the winning 4x1 relay. Had it not been for 
a bad start in the 100, in which she finished 3rd, she most likely would have won this at state also.
Ducree has set 4 school records in the past 2 years-triple jump (37'1"), 100 (12.02), 400 (57.35)
and 4x1 relay (48.42). She was undefeated in the 400 this year as was the 4x1 relay.

This is the first time that the track team has had two people selected to the All-State team and also
is the first time two girls from the same team will be running track in college next year.
Hannah is going to Harvard and Desherra Jackson (ranked #2 in the state in high jump) will be
attending Hinds Community College . Both will be competing in the heptalaton-(7 events).

Class 5A State Meet Results

Both the Picayune boys and girls placed 4th in the State 5A Track Meet this

Friday at Pearl High School . The girls scored 63 points and the boys had 58.

Both point totals were the most either teams has scored at state.This season,

----#1 in the state.
-Girls 4x1 relay- Nunez,Ducre,Sarah Richard, and Desherra Jackson .

----(broke the school record with 48.42) 2nd fastest  time in the state.
