Geri "Grubby" Grubbs

 

Background

Geri is a 1980 graduate of Picayune Memorial High School where he states he graduated in the top 250 of his class.

He was a two (2) letterman at defensive back and wingback for the Maroon Tide in 1978-1979.  Geri had the privilege

to play for Head Coaches Dewey Partridge and the late Calvin Triplett, and Assistant Coach John "Hawk" Hughes at

Picayune. He earned a scholarship from Pearl River Community College where  he played defensive back for Head

Coach J.C. Arban and Assistant Coach David Earl Johnson.

Geri is married to the former Lauren Walker and they have two (2) daughters: Gena (PMHS 2003 graduate) and Jacey

(PMHS Class of 2005). Geri,a talented musician, was a member of Boley Creek Band for seven (7) years.

Geri began working at WRJW in 1995 as a DJ.

Geri began to work football broadcasts as a sound technician for the broadcasts in 1996-1997 and became the Sideline

Reporter in 1998.  In 2001, he moved to the booth and worked as Color Commentator for two (2) seasons before

taking over as the Public Address(PA) announcer for the PMHS home football games this season (2003).  Geri has

served as PA announcer for Maroon Tide basketball from 1996 to present; has broadcasted Tide Baseball on

radio and held the PA duties from 1996-2001. Geri also served in similar capacities at Pearl River Community College

for football, basketball, and baseball.

Geri gives thanks to the following people for turning dreams into memories: Carey Meitzler, Barry Harper, John Pigott,

Rob Sigler, Dean Shaw, Dodd Lee, Kent Kirkland, Jay Artigues, and Richard Mathis.  Most of all, to his dear friend

and inspiration, the late Sam Adkins.
