D'Iberville swamps Maroon Tide 49-21

D'Iberville--D'Iberville overcame an early deficit and eventually pulled away from Picayune 49-21 to capture the Region 8-4A
Championship before an estimated 3,500 fans at Warrior Stadium.
Picayune scored on the opening possession of the game driving 80 yards in 7 plays with Jamal Hall scoring from 39 yards out.
Nick Riso converted the point after for a 7-0 lead with 8:49 left in the quarter and momentarily calmed the fired up Warrior crowd.

However, Kevin Norwood ignited the Warrior fans as he returned the ensuing kick off for a 72 yard touchdown and Andrew
Bentz's point after tied the game at 7-7 with 8:36 left.
After a Picayune punt, the Warriors drove 55 yards in 5 plays with Mark Seymour scoring a nifty 15 yard run. Bentz's PAT
made it 14-7 with 3:49 left.
Picayune's next drive ended on fourth down at the D'Iberville 47. The Warriors drove 53 yards on 11 plays with Seymour
scoring from 11 yards out with 9:07 left in the second quarter. Bentz was true again on the PAT to make it 21-7.
Picayune moved the ball to the Warrior 43 where they fumbled and D'Iberville took over. The Warriors would march to the
Maroon Tide 14, but a penalty, a sack by Jonathan Billups and a tackle for losss by Chris Nixon forced D'Iberville to attempt
a 52 yard field goal that was no good.
Picayune got the ball at their 20 with 2:14 left and marched down the field to score with :28 left on a 27 yard touchdown
pass from Jacob Kennedy to Jamal Hall. Riso converted the PAT to make it 21-14.
The Warriors scored with 3:58 left in the third quarter on a 12 yard run by Joe Prine to push the lead to 28-14 with Bentz's PAT.
Jake Miller, the Warriors quarterback, scored from 20 yards out with 7:42 left in the game to push it to 35-14.
Jacob Kennedy brought the Tide back to within striking distance with an 8 yard run with 3:11 left making it 35-21 after Riso's PAT.
Miller scored again, this time from 26 yards out, with 1:18 left and then Jarius Carter returned an interception for a TD from 30 yards
to complete the scoring.
For D'Iberville, Seymour rushed 24 times for 142 yards. Miller completed 8 of 11 passes for 101 yards and rushed for 64 net yards.
Picayune's Kennedy completed 12 of 26 passes for 164 yards an had 8 passes dropped by Tide receivers. Hall finished
with 109 yards on 19 rushes.
Picayune (8-2, 5-1) will host Forest Hill on Friday while D'Iberville (10-0, 6-0) will host Mendenhall.
