Maroon Tide stomps 'Goula 42-13

Picayune--Picayune closed out the non-division portion of their schedule with a 42-13 rout of the Pascagoula Panthers at

Tide Stadium to move their record to 3 wins against 1 loss on the season.

Picayune scored on their first possession of the game marching 68 yards in 12 plays with senior fullback Gabe Hinojosa scoring

from five yards out.  Nick Riso's point after made it 7-0 with 7:32 left in the first quarter.

Goula's third play from scrimmage resulted in a fumbled snap that Picayune's Reginald Bailey pounced on at the 'Goula 36 yard

line.  Junior quarterback Jacob Kennedy capped off the drive with a three yard touchdown run around right end with 4:00 left.

Riso converted the extra point for a 14-0 lead.

The margin moved to 21-0 when sophomore Jamal Hall ran in from four yards out with 7:40 left in the second quarter and

Riso kicked the extra point.

'Goula scored on their next possession when Tim Johnson passed to Martez Thompson for a 72 touchdown and Travis Bradley's

point after made it 21-7 with 6:45 left.

Picayune got another touchdown run from Hall, this time from 8 yards, to make it 28-7 with 3:00 left.  Riso's PAT was good again.

The Panthers scored with 5:26 left in the third quarter on another Johnson to Thompson touchdown pass covering 59 yards.  The

PAT was wide right and the score was 28-13.

Gabe Hinojosa, who had 133 yards on 11 carries, scored from 9 yards out with 10:39 left in the game.  Picayune closed out the

scoring on a 47 yard touchdown pass from Kennedy to Jonathan Moore with 5:42 left in the game.

Jamal Hall finished with 148 yards on 20 rushes in helping the Maroon Tide rush for 377 yards on 45 rushes.

Kennedy completed 4of 13 passes for 79 yards and he rushed 3 times for 22 yards.  Junior Jarrod Jones finished with 9 rushes

for 69 yards.

Picayune will open Region 8-4A play next week hosting Pearl River Central.
