Maroon Tide thumps Bay High 51-0

The Picayune Maroon Tide could have easily been looking ahead to next week's game against Poplarville. The bad news for the

Bay High Tigers was that the Tide was focused on the Tigers and the result was a 51-0 victory for Picayune at McCullough

Stadium in Bay St Louis.

Picayune scored on their first four possessions of the game.  The first drive consisted of Albert Richard running the ball seven times,

the last run from 7 yards out for the touchdown to cap off a 7 play 63 yard drive with 8:17 left on the clock.  Irving Gonzalez kicked

the extra point for a 7-0.

Picayune held the Tigers and took over at the Bay High 45 after a short punt.  Drew Cole took off on second down for a 37 yard

touchdown, and with another Gonzalez point after, the score was 14-0 with 5:52 left in the first quarter.

The Maroon Tide got the ball back after a Tiger punt with the possession starting on the Picayune 36 yard line.  Cole plunged

in from two yards for the touchdown to cap off the 6 play 64 yard drive.  Gonzalez' booted the PAT for a 21-0 lead with 11:53

left in the second quarter.

After another short Bay High punt, Picayune took over at the Tiger 38 yard line.  Reginald Bailey scored on a 7 yard run

on the fifth play of the possession.  Gonzalez tacked on the extra point for a 28-0 lead with 6:48 to play in the half.

On the first possession of the second half, Bay was forced to punt again and Steven Kellar blocked the punt in the end

zone and pounced on the football in the for a touchdown.  After Gonzalez kicked the point after, Picayune led 35-0 with

10:00 left in the third quarter.

Picayune's next possesion ended with Albert Richard scooting in from 5 yards.  Gonzalez kicked the point after for a

42-0 lead with 5:22 left in the third quarter.

The score moved to 44-0 when Gabe Hinojosa blocked Bay High's punt on the next possesion and the ball trickled out

the back of the endzone for a safety.

T'Darryl Greys finished the scoring with an 87 yard run.  Gonzalez' PAT made the final 51-0.

Albert Richard's two touchdowns pushed his season total to 22.  On the night, Richard had 16 carries for 129 yards.  Cole

finished with 61 yards on 4 rushes with two touchdowns. 

Picayune (8-0, 5-0) will host Poplarville for the division 8-4A championship.  Kickoff is set for 7:30pm.

Bay High (1-7, 0-5) will be at home in a non-division game against Tylertown.
