Pride of the Tide Wins Award at State Championships
by Carey Meitzler
The Picayune Memorial High School Pride of the Tide Dance Team has received many awards and accolades
from both state and national organizations over the past 30 plus years. They have wooed many a fan with
their precision dance routines at Maroon Tide football games as well as many others at basketball games inside
Kelly Wise Memorial gymnasium.
The consistency of this group can be attributed to their long hours of preparation, their attention to detail, and
their overall commitment to excellence starting with their directors down to each individual chosen to be a
dance team member. The Pride of the Tide is a treat to see any Picayune venue.
Directors are Ashley Stockstill & Jessica Spiers; Volunteer Assistants are Gail Mitchell & Meagan Millis.
Most recently, the Pride of the Tide competed in the official Mississippi High School Activities State Dance
Team Championships at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson. The team won first place in the Large
Varsity High Kick State Championship.
